DESCRIPTION:*****UPDATE: WE HAVE HAD TO MAKE A LAST MINUTE TEACHER SUBSTITUTION FOR THIS CLASS. Kate Spanos will be teaching frevo instead of Katie Kirkpatrick teaching samba. If you’ve never danced frevo\, it is a fun carnival dance from Recife\, and it will be taught for all levels! Please note that this workshop will be held at Old Parish House of College Park at 4711 Knox Road. \nLearn from Brazilian samba dancer Katie Kirkpatrick\, who has been performing and teaching in the DC area for over ten years. She has trained with some of the best samba experts in the country\, as well as from Brazil\, and specializes in choreography\, technique\, and stylings. Katie will demonstrate and teach the basics of samba dance. Also stay for our percussion ensemble workshop with André Coelho immediately following the dance workshop! \nThis is a regularly occurring Brazilian dance workshop hosted by EducArte. All levels are welcome to participate. \nThe event is a program of College Park-based arts non-profit EducArte. Special thanks to event sponsor\, the College Park Arts Exchange.
