DESCRIPTION:Join us for special class with Guilherme da Silva from Recife! Guilherme will teach an hour-long class on northeastern Brazilian dances\, including frevo\, coco\, and ciranda. He is the founder of Distrito do Frevo (District of Frevo) in Washington\, DC\, in partnership with Vavá United School of Samba\, and has taught in the United States and Europe. \nDon’t miss this unique opportunity learn about dances from Brazil’s Northeast\, and stay for our percussion ensemble workshop with André Coelho immediately following the dance workshop! \nThis is a regularly occurring Brazilian dance workshop hosted by EducArte. All levels are welcome to participate. \nThis event is free and open to the public. While primarily intended for adults\, everyone is welcome. Please note that this workshop will be held at Old Parish House of College Park at 4711 Knox Road. \nThe event is a program of College Park-based arts non-profit EducArte. SUMMARY:EducArte’s Brazilian Percussion Workshop & Jam
DESCRIPTION:Learn from and jam with special guest percussionist and scholar Juan Megna. Juan will show and demonstrate each of the essential Brazilian percussion instruments. Participants will learn basic rhythms and the event will finish with a jam session. Also come early for Brazilian dance workshop immediately before the percussion ensemble! \nWe will have some percussion instruments\, like pandeiros\, tamborins\, and surdos for participants. But please bring your instruments if you have any. \nThis is a regularly occurring Brazilian percussion meetup. All levels are welcome to participate. \nThis event is free and open to the public. While primarily intended for adults\, everyone is welcome.
