SUMMARY:EducArte’s Brazilian Dance Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Learn samba from Zezeh\, Brazilian dancer\, teacher\, choreographer\, performer\, and healer from São Paulo with a mission to bring more joy to the world through art. Zezeh will demonstrate and teach the basics of samba dance. Also stay for our percussion ensemble workshop with André Coelho immediately following the dance workshop! \nThis is a regularly occurring Brazilian dance workshop hosted by EducArte. All levels are welcome to participate. \nThis event is free and open to the public. While primarily intended for adults\, everyone is welcome. Please note that this will be held in the outdoor courtyard at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 4512 College Avenue in College Park\, MD. You can park in any of the parking lots behind the church—just turn onto Princetown Ave or Yale Ave to access the parking lots. We will meet outside behind the church at the circular labyrinth (looks like this: https://www.educarteinc.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Brazilian-percussion-ensemble-St.-Andrews.jpg). \nThere is a chance of rain on Saturday so please check your email and our social media channels for updates in case of a weather cancellation. \nPlease note that masks and proof of vaccination are required at this event. SUMMARY:EducArte’s Brazilian Percussion Workshop & Jam
DESCRIPTION:Learn from and jam with Brazilian samba master percussionist André Coelho from Rio de Janeiro. André will show and demonstrate each of the essential Brazilian percussion instruments. Participants will learn basic rhythms and the event will finish with a jam session. Also come early for our Brazilian dance workshop immediately before the percussion ensemble! \nWe will have some percussion instruments\, like pandeiros\, tamborins\, and surdos for participants. But please bring your instruments if you have any. \nThis is a regularly occurring Brazilian percussion meetup. All levels are welcome to participate. \nThis event is free and open to the public.
