DESCRIPTION:“Vem Pra Perto da Gente Sambar!” (Come Samba With Us!) — Luiz Carlos Da Vila \n🇺🇸 \nExperience the exuberant and community-centered tradition of samba at EducArte’s Sarau de Samba\, a monthly celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture in the heart of the DMV. Renowned local Brazilian performers Pablo Regis\, André Coelho\, and Mariana Triginelli lead the Rio de Janeiro style music and dance event. Samba is an interactive experience and we invite you to join the sarau de samba. \nSet in the historic Glen Echo Park\, Sarau de Samba features a dynamic ensemble of skilled musicians and dancers\, showcasing the diverse rhythms of samba\, from Golden Age classics and choro to modern pagode and high-energy carnival beats. More than just a performance\, this event invites attendees to become part of the music\, with opportunities to dance\, sing\, and even play instruments alongside the professionals. Each session starts with a beginner dance lesson. The event is open to people of any skill level\, no partner or instruments required. \nSarau de Samba is presented by the region’s premier Brazilian performing arts presenter EducArte in partnership with Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts & Culture. Glen Echo Park is a family friendly venue and park that offers free parking and is easily accessible by public transportation. Food and drink are for sale. O samba é uma mágica manifestação popular e contamos com você. \nRealizado no histórico centro cultural Glen Echo Park\, o Sarau de Samba reúne músicos\, dançarinos e o público num ambiente amistoso e contagiante.  O evento é aberto a pessoas de qualquer nível de habilidade\, sem necessidade de trazer um parceiro de dança ou instrumentos. \nSarau de Samba é apresentado pela produtora EducArte em parceria com o Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts & Culture. Brazilian cultural arts center EducArte brings its popular Sarau de Samba Experience to this year’s Viva Brazil Carnival Party. Grab your most colorful outfits and your friends for an unforgettable night in Rio de Janeiro\, immersed in an exuberant\, community-centered celebration of Afro-Brazilian samba culture\, where infectious ancestral rhythms come alive through music\, dance\, and joyful togetherness. \nThe samba performances are led by locally-based Brazilian star performers Pablo Regis\, André Coelho and samba dancer Mariana Triginelli\, who invite you to experience the heart of Brazil on the dance floor. The event features a live samba band\, thundering samba street-drumming ensemble\, dazzling samba dancers\, and charismatic breakout Brazilian DJ Babilous\, showcasing everything from ecstatic roots samba to high-energy carnival beats. \nThe party starts with a beginner-friendly samba dance lesson. \nAbout the artists\nSarau de Samba: roots samba experience is highly interactive and family-friendly\, welcoming all ages and backgrounds to sing\, dance\, and even play instruments alongside the band. Whether you’re a samba aficionado or a first-timer\, we are happy to share and pass on this rich tradition and you will always find a warm\, welcoming atmosphere and a true taste of Afro-Brazilian culture. \nThe Sarau de Samba band was founded by Pablo de Oliveira and Andre Coelho. The ensemble includes the top Brazilian musicians in the region\, including Pablo\, André\, Carlinhos Rangel\, Hugo Vásquez\,  Chris Payne\, David Sacks\, André Vidal\, and Tom Rohde. \nThere can be no samba music without samba dance! Expert samba dancer and educator Mariana Triginelli teaches attendees to move in time with fun and spirit. \nDJ Babilous is a Brazilian DJ based in Washington\, DC. She is known for highly energetic sets full of Brazilian rhythms and carnival vibes. \nSinger and poet Rose Moraes brings the soul of Brazilian Music to the world. Born in the south of Brazil near São Paulo\, she has performed in Switzerland\, Poland\, Brazil and the US\, where she now resides. She recorded a CD called “Brejeira” and launched her show “enCANTO do Poema” (enchantment of poetry)\, which has been presented in many capitals in Brazil. In the US\, she opened for Diana Ross at BET’s “Walk of Fame” in Washington\, DC. She has also performed at the Library of Congress\, The Chamber of Commerce (Brazil-USA)\, The National Zoo\, Adams Morgan Day Festival\, Artscape (Baltimore)\, NYC at Zinc Bar and The Iridium. She has also presented “Roots of Brazil” and “Tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim” at Creative Alliance in Baltimore\, as well as Viva Brasil! in past years. Rose performed for Thievery Corporation at Eighteenth Street Lounge in DC with her Band “Soul Brazil” and currently performs on Thursdays at Mercy Me in DC.
