DESCRIPTION:Spend your summer immersed in the powerful\, collective groove of Brazilian carnival with EducArte’s bateria drumming class for adults\, presented in partnership with Levine Music at its Silver Spring campus. In this weekly session\, you will learn the high-energy samba percussion rhythms that drive Rio-style street parades\, with a focus on solid technique\, ensemble playing\, and musicality. \nClasses meet at Levine Music’s Silver Spring campus (900 Wayne Ave\, 2nd floor\, Silver Spring\, MD 20910) on the following dates: \n\nThursday\, July 2\nThursday\, July 9\nWednesday\, July 15\nWednesday\, July 22\nThursday\, July 30\n\nAll classes run from 6:30-8:00 p.m. All sessions are drop-in at a $25 rate\, giving you flexibility to join when you can while still experiencing the energy of a live samba ensemble. \nYou’ll get hands-on experience with key bateria instruments such as surdo\, caixa\, tamborim\, repique\, and more\, rotating through different parts of the ensemble as you build confidence in timing\, feel\, and coordination. DESCRIPTION:Take our Summer Samba Challenge to tone your body\, build and polish your samba dance technique\, and experience other dances of Brazil! \nThis summer\, EducArte is offering weekly 2-hour fitness and Brazilian dance classes in Rockville on Tuesdays from June 23 to July 14. The classes are taught by our experienced Brazilian dance instructors: Mariana Triginelli\, Luy Cortes\, Kate Spanos\, and Pablo Regis. \nEach weekly session includes: \n\nConditioning: A low to medium-impact circuit to strengthen arms\, legs\, back\, and core\, and improve agility\, supporting your dance technique.\nSamba no pé technique: Focused samba no pé instruction\, with attention to precision\, speed\, and style (taught by Mariana Triginelli).\nBrazilian “dance sampler”: Explore different Brazilian movement styles\, including frevo from Pernambuco (taught by Kate Spanos); toada from Amazonas and Maranhão\, and axé and lambada from Bahia (taught by Mariana Triginelli); capoeira (taught by Pablo Regis); and samba axé and samba reggae from Bahia (taught by Luy Cortes).\n\nThis intensive is open to all levels and offers a comprehensive training experience for samba and Brazilian movement forms. \nRegistration for the full four-week session is encouraged.
