Short beginner lessons will be included in each dance session\, and all dances are open to people of any skill level! No partner required and all events are free. \nEducArte will present the Pablo Regis Band\, playing Brazilian samba and choro favorites\, with dances led by samba dance master Ilheuma Zezeh. This event is a preview of EducArte’s new Sarau de Samba series\, starting on September 15. \nLearn more about the Social Dance “FREE-for-All” event at Glen Echo’s website. \n\nAbout EducArte’s Saraus de Samba:\nExperience the exuberant and community-centered tradition of samba at EducArte’s Sarau de Samba\, a monthly celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture in the heart of the DMV. Renowned local Brazilian performers Pablo Regis\, André Coelho\, and Ilheuma Zezeh lead the Rio de Janeiro style music and dance event. Samba is an interactive experience and we invite you to join the Sarau de samba. \nSet in the historic Glen Echo Park\, Sarau de Samba features a dynamic ensemble of skilled musicians and dancers\, showcasing the diverse rhythms of samba\, from Golden Age classics and choro to modern pagode and high-energy carnival beats. More than just a performance\, this event invites attendees to become part of the music\, with opportunities to dance\, sing\, and even play instruments alongside the professionals. SUMMARY:Irish Céilí Dance at Glen Echo Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening filled with traditional Irish music and dance! \nEducArte presents its FIRST céilí at Glen Echo Park! An Irish céilí is a social gathering filled with traditional music and dance. We will learn some basic Irish dance steps and beginner friendly group dances\, accompanied by live music by some of the region’s best Irish musicians. \nThe called will be dancer Kate Spanos and the band will include Marty Frye (flute)\, David McKindley-Ward (tenor banjo)\, and Lexie Boatright (concertina)\, joined by special guest Ryan Ward (piano) from New York. We will also have a performance by the talented students of the Baltimore-Washington Academy of Irish Culture during the break. \nThe event will be held in the Bumper Car Pavilion at Glen Echo Park. The Bumper Car Pavilion is an outdoor\, covered pavilion. Tickets are $15 per person. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. Note: Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is not required; face masks are encouraged but not required. \nThe event is a program of College Park-based arts non-profit EducArte.
