EducArte, The Catholic University of America (CUA), and the Oliveira Lima Library at CUA are proud to announce a new partnership aimed at promoting Brazilian and Portuguese history, art, and culture. This collaboration marks a significant step in fostering cultural exchange and education in the Washington, DC region.
Partnership Highlights
EducArte and the Oliveira Lima Library will collaborate on joint cultural and educational projects, leveraging the library’s extensive collection of Brazilian and Portuguese materials and EducArte’s deep Brazilian community connections. They will also promote the Portuguese language and Lusophone culture for students and residents in the DC area.
“Manoel and Flora de Oliveira Lima were known as the first Cultural Ambassadors of Brazil and their library reflects their legacy,” said Duilia Demello, Vice Provost for Global Strategies at Catholic University. “We are very pleased to partner with EducArte to keep their dreams of promoting Brazilian culture alive.”
Celebrating 100 years this year, the Oliveira Lima Library (1924-2024) is widely regarded as the premier Luso-Brazilian collection in the United States, with many materials available nowhere else in the country. It serves as an important resource for scholars studying Brazilian and Portuguese history, literature, and culture.
“The partnership will allow us to collaborate to reach more people, highlighting the library’s incredible collections and EducArte’s cultural programs and presentations,” said EducArte’s executive director Pablo de Oliveira. “This is a tremendous benefit for the Brazilian community in our region and we are excited about the potential for innovative projects and cultural exchanges.”
