Samba, frevo, and batucada at Glen Echo Park’s Echo Arts Festival celebrating Latino heritage

EducArte's senior artistic team

We had a wonderful time this past weekend at Glen Echo Park’s Echo Arts Festival, celebrating Latino Heritage Month! We were invited to share Brazilian cultural arts at the event. We started with a short frevo dance lesson with Kate Spanos, followed by a samba lesson with Ilheuma Zezeh. We had people of all ages join us on the dance floor! Pablo Regis and his band played classic samba favorites and we wrapped up with a demonstration by EducArte’s bateria, or samba percussion ensemble, led by our percussion director André Coelho.

It was great to be part of such a lively event with so many other local artists and performers! Looking forward to more opportunities like this in the future.
