EducArte’s bateria percussion and samba no pé dance students lit up Adams Morgan PorchFest 2026, transforming the neighborhood into a mini Rio carnival right here in Washington, DC. Our group was in front of El Tamarindo restaurant and drew neighbors, families, and passersby in to share our celebration of Afro-Brazilian culture.
Adams Morgan PorchFest is one of DC’s most beloved neighborhood music events, with bands and ensembles performing from porches, patios, and storefronts so audiences can wander between sets, discover new artists, and experience live music up close. It’s the perfect setting for samba: participatory, community-centered, and welcoming to all ages.
Audiences at PorchFest saw what we cultivate every week at EducArte. Our Brazilian samba bateria program is a weekly, community-based drumming class led by master Brazilian percussionists, where participants learn authentic Rio-style samba-enredo rhythms in an inclusive, hands-on setting. Our samba dance classes, taught by Brazilian instructors rooted in Carnival traditions, focus on body positivity, musicality, and cultural pride while welcoming dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels.
Whether you are brand new to music and dance or looking to deepen your connection to Brazilian culture, our classes offer a space to learn, connect, and perform with us at community events like PorchFest throughout the region. Join our weekly drumming and dance classes to become part of this vibrant community and help keep samba’s heartbeat strong in the DC region.
