Our samba dancers, led by Mariana Triginelli and featuring special guest Andressa Telles, brought the carnival energy, and our bateria came out in force.

On March 19, EducArte proudly presented the legendary Grupo Fundo de Quintal at Black Cat DC, marking a memorable night for Brazilian samba lovers in the region.

EducArte hosted a community engagement workshop with Soles of Duende on Saturday, October 12, ahead of their concert at the Prince George’s Publick Playhouse later that evening. The all-female multicultural percussive trio offered an immersive group class experience on creative expression through migrational dance forms, centering creative conversation through music and movement.

Our first Sarau de Samba at Glen Echo Park yesterday was incredible! Thanks to everyone who came and brought their energy to sing, dance, and celebrate with us.

The band was met with a full house of excited fans of this new generation of Brazilian popular music. It was moving to see everyone swaying and singing along with their latest hits, and they ended with some classic samba to bring it all back to the band’s roots in Bahia.

We are proud to have presented our first Brazilian Festa Junina festival at Black Cat DC in Washingon, DC, on June 13! EducArte brought together important Brazilian-run nonprofits and community partners and Brazilian audiences from the DMV to enjoy typical dances (quadrilha and forró), traditional foods, and one of the most important forró bands from Brazil, Forróçacana.

On Saturday night, iconic Brazilian guitarist and songwriter João Bosco brought his quartet to Catholic University’s Hartke Theatre on Saturday evening. He was joined by top Brazilian musicians Ricardo Silveira (guitar), Kiko Freitas (drums), and Guto Wirtti (bass). We loved hearing Bosco’s classics, like “O Bêbado e a Equilibrista,” “Incompatibilidade de Gênios,” and “De Frente Pro Crime,” among other favorites.

On Friday, Yamandu Costa took us on an emotional journey with an amazingly varied solo 7-string guitar performance. Audience members called his music “transcendent,” “virtuosic,” “human,” and “accessible.”
