Ilê Aiyê led a community workshop on Thursday, September 4, bringing together people from across the area’s Brazilian music and dance scene the day before their concert at the UDC Theater of the Arts. The event was held at the Go-Go Museum, a community-centered space in historic Anacostia dedicated to celebrating, preserving, and sharing the city’s homegrown go-go music through interactive exhibits, live performances, historic artifacts, and educational programs.

EducArte hosted a community engagement workshop with Soles of Duende on Saturday, October 12, ahead of their concert at the Prince George’s Publick Playhouse later that evening. The all-female multicultural percussive trio offered an immersive group class experience on creative expression through migrational dance forms, centering creative conversation through music and movement.

EducArte presents our first Festa Junina in Washington, DC, featuring Forróçacana

We are proud to have presented our first Brazilian Festa Junina festival at Black Cat DC in Washingon, DC, on June 13! EducArte brought together important Brazilian-run nonprofits and community partners and Brazilian audiences from the DMV to enjoy typical dances (quadrilha and forró), traditional foods, and one of the most important forró bands from Brazil, Forróçacana.
