Learn from and jam with Brazilian samba master percussionist André Coelho from Rio de Janeiro. André will show and demonstrate each of the essential Brazilian percussion instruments. Participants will learn basic rhythms and the event will finish with a jam session. Also come early for our Brazilian dance workshop immediately before the percussion ensemble!

We will have some percussion instruments, like pandeiros, tamborins, and surdos for participants. But please bring your instruments if you have any.

This is a regularly occurring Brazilian percussion meetup. All levels are welcome to participate.

This event is free and open to the public. While primarily intended for adults, everyone is welcome. Please note that this workshop will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 4512 College Avenue in College Park, MD. You can park in any of the parking lots behind the church—just turn onto Princetown Ave or Yale Ave to access the parking lots. We will meet outside behind the church at the circular labyrinth (looks like this: https://www.educarteinc.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Brazilian-percussion-ensemble-St.-Andrews.jpg).
