It was a full house at our first céilí of the year at Glen Echo Park last weekend!

What a fantastic show on Saturday night with Larry & Joe! They brought amazing energy with their bilingual and bi-cultural performance, combining Venezuelan llanera music with Appalachian bluegrass.

Last weekend, we were proud to have students enrolled in our aulas de musicalização sing “Samba de Uma Nota Só” by Tom Jobim for their families. EducArte’s musicalização program is offered through a partnership with ABRACE to teach immigrant and first-generation youth the basics of Brazilian music, including music theory, history, and practice.

We are thrilled to announce that we are bringing Larry & Joe to Joe’s Movement Emporium in January! We saw this versatile duo perform last month and we were electrified by their charisma and musicality. As a fully bilingual and bi-musical act combining Venezuelan llanera and Appalachian folk music, Larry & Joe encapsulate what we love about exploring the connections between traditional forms across the Americas.

We were thrilled to be at this year’s College Park Day! André Coelho and Pablo de Oliveira led a short demo and workshop for the community.

Milton “Bituca” Nascimento put on a fantastic (and sold out!) show last night at The Birchmere! Que emoção! The tour, “A Última Sessão de Música,” is his farewell after an illustrious 60-year career.

We had a great time at our céilí last week! We had dancing with live accompaniment by some of the region’s best Irish musicians and the energy was amazing.

What a great concert by Adriana Calcanhotto on Friday! With just her and her guitar on stage, she brought back some of her greatest hits. Everyone was singing along! Beautiful compositions and powerful lyrics.
