In early February, we organized a free community workshop with Music from the Sole at Dance Place’s Edgewood Arts Center. The Brazilian tap dance company worked with local percussive dancers, percussionists, and capoeiristas to explore Afro-Brazilian rhythms through body percussion.

We have had a wonderful year of growth! Check out our highlights from 2023, including concerts with Monobloco, Djavan, and Diogo Nogueira, and many performances featuring our samba bateria, frevo and samba dance, and much more.

We had a wonderful time this past weekend at Glen Echo Park’s Echo Arts Festival, celebrating Latino heritage! We were invited to share Brazilian cultural arts at the event.

Thank you to everyone who came to our Diogo Nogueira concert at Karma DC on Friday, September 15! It was an incredible showing of samba culture, featuring crowd favorites that everyone sang along to.

Thanks to everyone who came out to see Richard Miller perform at the Gateway Arts Center on Friday! We presented the concert in partnership with the Brentwood Arts Exchange for their Listening Room Concert Series.

Our Brazilian carnival dance and percussion classes start up again this Saturday, August 19, at the Old Parish House in College Park, and we are bringing samba superstar Diogo Nogueira to DC on September 15.

We had a wonderful Saturday at Creative Alliance in Baltimore to celebrate both São João and the end of our Spring 2023 semester.

What an incredible concert, full of nostalgia, friendship, and community! We were emotional hearing some of Lulu’s classic songs and experiencing the energy that his band brought to Maryland.
